Associate Professor, Vascular and Interventional Radiology
Francis Scott Nowakowski, MD, FSIR, is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Surgery in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine. After completing medical school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1994, he did his internship and residency at University of Pennsylvania Health System / Pennsylvania Hospital and completed his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Christiana Care Medical Center. He subsequently joined the division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2000.
Dr. Nowakowski lectures around the world on various subjects in the field of Vascular and Interventional Radiology including chemoembolization, Y90 radioembolization, portal hypertension / TIPS, biliary interventions, central venous disease, and uterine artery embolization.
Dr. Nowakowski has authored various scientific abstracts and manuscripts in the field of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He has also been invited as faculty at various meetings including The Society of Interventional Radiology Annual Meeting, Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies, Advanced Interventional Management and New York Roentgen Society Annual Meeting.
Dr. Nowakowski has received The Harold A. Mitty, M.D. Distinguished Educator Award in Interventional Radiology, has been recognized as a New York Metro Area and Regional Top Doctor, is a volunteer for the New York City Medical Reserve Corps, and has helped establish the iCare Peer Support Group at Mount Sinai Hospital.
